Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Scoper (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit joinscoper.com (the “Site”) or use our planning workspace (the “Service”).
The short version: We use only two analytics tools — Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity — and only after you consent. We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising trackers, and any project content you create in the Service can be protected with client-side encryption that even we can't read.
Who we are
Scoper is the data controller for personal data processed through the Site and Service. For any privacy questions, contact us at privacy@joinscoper.com.
Data we collect
Information you give us
- Account data — name, email address, and password (hashed) when you sign up.
- Workspace content — projects, modules, features, estimates, and comments you create. On encrypted projects, this is end-to-end encrypted in your browser and stored as ciphertext only.
- Billing data — handled by our payment processor; we never store full card numbers.
- Support communications — messages you send us.
Information collected automatically
- Usage & device data — pages viewed, approximate (anonymised) location, browser and device type, and interactions. This is collected via analytics cookies only if you consent (see Analytics).
- Essential cookies — a small record of your cookie choice and a session identifier needed for the Site to work.
How we use your data
- To provide, operate, and secure the Site and Service.
- To process payments and manage your subscription.
- To understand usage and improve the product (analytics — consent-based).
- To respond to support requests and send essential service notices.
We do not use your data for third-party advertising and we do not sell your personal data.
Legal basis (GDPR/UK GDPR)
- Contract — to provide the Service you signed up for.
- Consent — for analytics cookies (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity). You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — to keep the Service secure and prevent abuse.
- Legal obligation — for tax, accounting, and compliance.
Analytics
With your consent, we use two analytics services and nothing else:
- Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd.) — aggregate traffic and usage measurement. We enable IP anonymisation and disable advertising/Google Signals features.
- Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation) — anonymised usage analytics such as heatmaps and aggregated session statistics to help us spot usability problems.
These tools only load after you opt in via our cookie banner. For full cookie details, see our Cookie Policy. You can change your choice at any time using .
Sharing & processors
We share data only with service providers (“processors”) who help us run Scoper, under contracts that require them to protect it:
- Cloud hosting and infrastructure providers.
- Payment processing (for billing).
- Google (Analytics) and Microsoft (Clarity) — only with your consent.
Some providers may process data outside your country; where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Data retention
We keep account and workspace data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 90 days, except where we must retain it for legal reasons. Analytics data is retained according to the providers' settings (Google Analytics is configured to a limited retention window).
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, and to object to or withdraw consent for processing. To exercise any of these, email privacy@joinscoper.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Security
We protect data with encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and the option of client-side AES-256-GCM encryption for project content, where the encryption key never leaves your device.
Children
The Service is not directed to anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date, and where required we will ask for renewed consent.
